Oia is arguably the most photographed village in the world. Perched on the northern tip of Santorini, it’s famous for its three iconic blue-domed churches, narrow marble-paved alleys, and some of the most spectacular sunset views anywhere on Earth.
Early morning (7:00–9:00 AM) is the golden window for Oia. The light is soft, the crowds are minimal, and you can photograph freely in front of the blue domes without hundreds of tourists in the background. Oia’s iconic sunset is beautiful but also extremely crowded — we always recommend morning sessions for the best flying dress photos in Oia.

Imerovigli sits on the highest point of the caldera rim, just south of Oia, and is often called the “balcony of Santorini.” It’s quieter, more exclusive, and offers dramatic views that rival — and in some ways surpass — those of its more famous neighbour.
Imerovigli works beautifully for both morning sessions (8:00–10:00 AM) and late afternoon golden hour (5:00–7:00 PM). The elevated position means the caldera light changes dramatically throughout the day, giving you flexibility that Oia doesn’t always offer. Golden hour in Imerovigli is especially spectacular — the entire caldera turns golden pink, and the flying dress photographs in these conditions are truly breathtaking.
